Castleblayney glad to be back

After a gap of 8 years Castleblayney won the Monaghan County Championship to allow them a run at the Bridie McMenamin Shield and they weren’t wasting time as they made it through to Sunday’s Final against Mullaghbawn of Armagh. Wins over Laragh of Cavan and Armoy of Antrim will see them has put the Monaghan side in confident mood according to team captain Roisin McKenna

‘ This our first county championship win in 8 years so it’s good to be back into Ulster competition never mind getting to an Ulster Final after that length of a gap. We have been flat our training and its going well for the team. We haven’t had time to lay back as we have played league games coming into the Ulster Final.

While only 25km separates the two clubs Roisin concedes that they don’t know much about the Armagh side

‘We don’t know much about Mullaghbawn other than they are top of Armagh Division 2 so they must be strong enough and they also had two good wins to get to the Final. However when it comes down to it it’s all about how you play on the day and we hope it will be a good game’
