Rossa prepared for Slaughtneil Challenge

O’Donovan Rossa have had plenty of success in the last number of years but must prepare for a different type of challenge when they face Slaughtneil in Saturdays NWP Recycling Ulster Senior A Club Championship Final.  With Derry re-entering the Ulster A Championship the path for the Antrim Champions does not mean straight entry to the All-Ireland Semi-Final and this could be a good thing says Rossa captain Muirinn Quinn

‘ The last time we came through Antrim there was no Ulster Final and we know we had to prepare for this game. It’s a new challenge but it is not something we are taken for granted. We don’t see Slaughtneil as underdogs. We know it will be a big challenge and Slaughtneil coming into Ulster is great for Derry and Ulster Camogie. We know they will be working hard and we will be prepared for them’

Speaking at the NWP Recycling Ulster Championship Finals launch, Muirinn spoke of how the All-Ireland Senior Champions of 2008 have found things not as easy going since their win against Drom & Inch of Tipperary.

‘ Going from winning an All-Ireland and trying to get back to that intensity has been quite tough but after not getting through our own Antrim Championship last year it hurt and we have been fighting like mad and we know what it takes to get to an All-Ireland and that it what we are aiming for. Hopefully whoever comes out of the game on Saturday can represent Ulster Camogie well’
