St Patrick’s Keady claim Liatroim Fontenoys’ Cup

St Patrick’s Keady 1-9 St Catherine’s Armagh 0-2

St Patrick’s Keady collected their fifth Liatroim Fontenoys’ Cup title in 12 years at Granemore on Saturday, comfortably defeating St Catherine’s in the Armagh derby.

Shannon Kelly looked the only outfield player capable of driving St Catherine’s to titles at two different levels in the course of 12 months.

Her goalie Aoife McGaffin was also superb, pulling off a string of saves to keep her side in the game.

Shannon scored an early point for St Catherine’s and Eimear Mullan got the other on 14 minutes, but it was little return for the possession they enjoyed in the Keady half of the field during the first half.

Aimee Brennan was the scoring star of that opening half with 4 points and her team led 0-6 to 0-2 at the turnover.

With only a point from Ciara Hill during the third quarter, the game was still in the melting pot, until Hannah Hughes buried the goal in the 46th minute.

That score sealed victory for Keady, with Rose Ellen Carville and Orlagh Vallely completing the scoring with excellent points.
