Speed Camogie enters final week

The U14 Speed Camogie league which has been running in venues in North Antrim is entering the fourth and final week on Sunday. Teams from Antrim and Derry have been participating in the competition with an emphasis on fun and the development of young camogie players.

 

This is a programme that organiser Chris McAuley from Ballycastle would like to expand on and see it potentially rolled out across the province to benefit young camogs in Ulster and wished to thank clubs for their participation  ‘I would like to thank everybody from parents who travelled to mentors for getting involved with this program. Looking at it I firmly believe it has helped in many ways, the speed of the ball and the non stop play really makes the girls think and their movements must improve week on week. If this develops further it will make Camogie stronger in Ulster and get clubs on the road to All Ireland success for the future.’

Teams competing in the competition include Ballycastle, Eoghan Rua, Cushendall, Swatragh, Loughgiel, Dunloy and Bridini Oga with the games taking place on the Quay Road Astroturf pitch in Ballycastle. Games throw in at 10am on Sunday
