No fear in Armagh camp ahead of Ulster Semi-Final

Armagh player Katie O’Brien can’t wait for Sunday’s NWP Recycling Ulster Senior Championship Semi-Final and believes playing at Senior grade is somewhere that Armagh have worked hard to get to. With Armagh have some degrees of success in Minor and U16 grades at National and Ulster level the county are working hard to develop Camogie in the Orchard County.

‘We have been working hard to get to Senior Championship and we want to show that Armagh can and will be a force to be reckoned with. We have no fear of playing Derry and we’ll go out to concentrate on our own game and give it a good lash. We’ve been looking forward to the game for a while and we have a good mix of younger and more experienced players in the squad’.

Armagh made a slow enough start to the National League campaign but half forward Katie believes there will be plenty of positives in preparation for the game in Madden on Sunday. ‘Our league campaign got stronger as it went on and when we got everyone available we started to perform quite well. We have brought on a lot of younger players into the squad and they are starting to mix well. We also have more experienced players returning from injury and this is help the squad blend’.

Last year Armagh travelled to Portglenone to face Antrim in the NWP Recycling Ulster Senior Championship and had the Saffrons under pressure in the first half until Antrim pulled away. This experience will bode well for Armagh in this year’s Ulster and All-Ireland campaign according to Katie.

‘Last year we were a bit inexperienced and we’ve learned from it. Hopefully this year we can step up again and use these experiences when we go to play Derry and also go into the All-Ireland Premier Junior Championship’.
