NWP Recycling Ulster Club Championships begin this weekend

This weekend see’s the start of the 2013 NWP Recycling Ulster Club Championship’s with the Bridie McMenamin Shield Quarter Finals being played. Castleblayney won the 2012 Final after defeating Armagh champions Mullaghbawn however were defeated by rivals Clontibret in the recently in the Monaghan County Final.

Loughgiel Shamrocks will host Down Junior Champions Castlewellan in the first game of the weekend. Castlewellan are hoping for a busy number of weeks as they also secured the Down Senior Ladies Football championship and travel on Saturday to the Antrim champions for a 1pm throw in at Fr Barrett Park. The winners of this game will play Armagh side Derrymacash

In an early game on Sunday, Tyrone Junior Champions Dungannon will face off against Castletara of Cavan at 11.30am. Clontibret will be eager to keep the Bridie McMenamin Shield in the county and face O’Donovan Rossa Magherafelt at 1.30pm. The winners of this game will face off against either Dungannon or Castletara in the Bridie McMenamin Shield Semi-Final on 6 th October.

With other county competitions still due to be finished the Ulster Intermediate Championship will begin on 29 th September with Down side Liatroim Fontenoys will meet the winners of tomorrow’s replayed Armagh Senior Final between Ballymacnab and Tullysaran. Tyrone kingpins Eglish will make up the third side in the NWP Recycling Ulster Intermediate Championship which is being played in a round robin format for the first time.

The Ulster Junior Championship will begin on 6 th October while the Senior Final will take place on 27 th September once the Antrim and Derry Senior Champions are known as both counties are still at semi-final stage.
