Katie bows out with NWP Recycling Ulster Senior Player of the Year Award

Talk about going out at the top.. no sooner had Katie McAnenly picked up the 2013 NWP Recycling Ulster Camogie Senior Player of the Year award at Kelly’s Inn on Saturday when the Derry star confirmed her retirement from the inter-county game.

‘It’s nice to get it when you’re ending on a high’ said Katie who helped Derry win the Ulster title and compete in Division One this year. The full-forward predicts a bright future for her team-mates in 2014 even though they are currently searching for a new manager after John A Mullan stepped down.

 ‘I’ve no doubt we’ll do well next year and with the talk of the managers that they’re having (talks with), I feel Derry will hold the Seniors for a few years yet, so things are looking good’.
