Ulster Colleges sides know Semi-Final opponents

The line-up is complete for the All-Ireland Colleges’ Senior camogie semi-finals next month, following results from delayed, or indeed replayed finals, in the other provinces during the past few days.

The Ulster champions in the four grades will have home venues against their Munster counterparts and that means that St Mary’s Magherafelt, who ended neighbours Maghera’s four year reign in the province, will host first-time Munster winners St Flannan’s Ennis.

It has been a remarkable journey for the Clare school who only admitted girls for the first time a decade ago.  Their game with St Mary’s has been brought forward to Saturday week, February 8th, as some of the Magherafelt players are on a ski trip on the scheduled date a week later.

Fr Davies’ Cup champions St Killian’s GarronTower will face Our Lady’s Templemore, the Tipperary side finishing strongly in their replayed final on Saturday with Christ the King Cork to win 1-11 to 0-6.

Assumption Ballynahinch won the Ulster Medallion Shield for the first time back in November and they now face another Clare side, St Joseph’s Doon.  A number of the Ballynahinch girls have yet to focus on that game as they are involved this Sunday with their club Liatroim Fontenoys, in the All-Ireland club semi-finals in Kinnegad.

Finally in the Senior grade, another Down side, Our Lady’s of Newry will play Glanmire of Cork.

In the Junior (under 16 grade), St Mary’s Magherafelt will be travelling to St Mary’s Charleville on February 22nd.  St Mary’s were comfortable in winning their third Ulster title in a row and will be confident of doing well.

Neither St Louis Ballymena nor St Louis Kilkeel have named opponents yet as the Munster finals at the weekend fell victim to the inclement weather.

The other Ballymena side, St Patrick’s will make the long journey to Waterford to face the local Presentation school in their semi-final on February 22nd.
