It is no surprise to see these two teams in the Intermediate Final as, no offence to Madden, but going into the round-robin qualifying campaign Eglish and Clonduff were favourites to come out as finalists. But even though both teams were favourites to make the final there isn’t much between the teams.

In the Down Championship Clonduff came through a very tough campaign having to conquer 2013 NWP Recycling Ulster Intermediate Champions Liatroim Fontenoys and also Ballycran before taking on Portaferry in the Final. Even though Clonduff were behind in the Down Final at half-time against Portaferry they came out convincing winners thanks to a game dictated by a strong wind. Such a difficult Championship can only be an advantage to Clonduff and they can also boast of having seven players who won the All Ireland Junior Final with Down in their squad.

Although Eglish don’t have a difficult Championship under their belt they have led the way in Tyrone and Ulster for many years and their participation in the Derry league can only be beneficial. The benefits of this were clear to see this year when they won the Kilmacud sevens on All Ireland weekend. There is definitely no undermining the Eglish team going into this game.

Clonduff and Eglish have met on many occasions in the past and both teams will be very aware of each other’s strengths; so both teams will go into the game knowing that they will have to play their best Camogie to claim their first Ulster Title.
