Going into this final it’s impossible to name a favourite as both teams have come through their County Championships with relative ease and with so much history between the teams we are due an exhilarating encounter where both sets of women will leave everything on the pitch.

In Antrim this year Loughgiel camogie club were the dominant force representing the county in the Senior, Intermediate and Junior NWP Recycling Ulster Camogie Championship but only the senior team are left due to early exits by the other two teams. The senior team will be hoping to bring one piece of silverware back to north Antrim. It is fair to say that the Loughgiel senior team have been ‘untouchable’ in Antrim Camogie this year, defeating Portglenone by 23 points in the Championship Final and are yet to experience a tough domestic club match where they have been chasing the lead. Perhaps this could act as a serious disadvantage against a strong Eoghan Rua team but it would be foolish for us to doubt a club of Loughgiel’s stature.

Under the management of Joe Passmore Eoghan Rua will be confident that they will retain the NWP Recycling Ulster Senior club Championship but will in no way undermine the challenge ahead of them against Loughgiel. Eoghan Rua has again been the dominant force in Derry this year. In the Derry Final Eoghan Rua came out as convincing Champions against Slaughtneil beating them 2-19 to 1-10,  although it could be said they didn’t get it quite as easy as Loughgiel, so whether or not this will be advantageous we will wait and see.

Either way we have no doubts that this will a tight and enthralling game which will continue to promote the development of Camogie in Ulster.
