Antrim lost the opening Irish Daily Star Division Two Group One game against Galway at a heavy Lavey pitch with very difficult weather conditions. Following a half time lead of 0-05 to 0-04 Antrim conceded a goal to Galway’s Tara Ruttledge early in the second half and despite a converted penalty by Nicole O’Neill and a tight finish Galway got the win by the narrowest of margins.

Final score Antrim 1-07 Galway 1-08. Antrim scorers Shannon Graham 0-02, Michaela Convery 0-02 , Orlagh O’Hara 0-01, and Nicole O’Neill 1-02. This team included 6 senior team debuts so manager Paul Boyle was glowing in his praise for the camogs.”I was very proud of their performance today, and we should have won but unfortunately soft frees cost us dearly.  It was brutal conditions but I was glad that the game went ahead.”
