All-Ireland Colleges’ Camogie Senior A semi-final replay
St Mary’s, Magherafelt 2-6 Seamount, Kinvara 3-6
ST MARY’S, Magherafelt’s All-Ireland dream died eight minutes from time in this All-Ireland Colleges’ Camogie Senior semi-final replay yesterday afternoon in Magherafelt. That was the point when Carrie Dolan fired in a top-class goal to put her side a point ahead. Up until then, the home team had looked the more likely winners – despite getting off to a dreadful start. Kinvara hit them with goals from Cliodhna Walsh and Rachel Helebert in the fifth and seventh minutes to take a five point lead. For the rest of the opening half however, St Mary’s were the dominant team, taking the lead with two excellent goals from Ballinascreen’s Jackie Donnelly in the 15th and 18th minutes.
Magherafelt led by 2-4 to 2-1 at the break, but appeared a bit lethargic at the start of the second half as Carrie Dolan pointed twice for the visitors. Points from Eimear McGuigan and Aislinn Craig however looked to be putting the home side back on track, only for Dolan’s 22nd minute goal to change the game once more and her side added two late points from sub Ciara Keane to seal a place in the final.
